Health and Fitness for Life
What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi is an holistic martial and healing art originating from China. The Tai Chi form is a sequence of interconnected movements collectively making a single, continuous, flowing form which generally takes around twenty minutes to perform, and has great health and fitness benefits and hidden self defense applications.
The style of Tai Chi that I study, practice and teach is the Yang family form, specifically the Yang Chen Fu Tai Chi Form, which is the modern form many people will have seen before.
Tai Chi Workshops for 2026
This year I'm holding a series of workshops for people who would like to learn the Yang Chen Fu Tai Chi long form. My aim is that by the end of the year a reasonable sized group of people will be able to meet regularly to practice the Tai Chi form, maybe in a village hall or at a suitable outdoor space, in a similar way to how the form is practiced in parks and open spaces in China.
Tai Chi Workshops for Beginners
These will be in The Crackington Institute from 1 pm to 4 pm on the first Saturday of each month, starting on the 7th of February. You wouldn't necessarily need to attend all of the workshops to learn the whole form; but if you can get to at least 6 or 7 of the workshops, that should be sufficient.
Intermediate Tai Chi Workshops
I'll also be running occasional intermediate Tai Chi workshops for people with some previous experience of Tai Chi. In these, we'll be going deeper into elements of the Yang Chen Fu Tai Chi form and developing the core principles. The next of these workshops will be in the The Crackington Institute from 1 pm to 4 pm on Saturday the 24th of March.
The cost of each of the workshops is £24 per person. The format will be two sessions of about 75 minutes each, with a 30 minute tea break in between.
Please contact me if you're interested in any of these workshops.
